I have always been passionate about working with clay, its therapeutic qualities inspire me to create. I take the inanimate and bring it to life.
My ‘In Flight’ and ‘Spike’ series capture the essence of positive energy and movement.
They are strongly influenced by my love of architecture and nature. I pair the two to provide exquisite 3 dimensional forms.
My ‘Marble’ series developed from a childhood obsession with glass marbles which has produced intriguing berry-like forms.
Each piece is built on a base which I use like a blank canvas. I add individually made clay elements, like brush strokes, to create either a natural flow or a specific form.
All of my pieces hand built and unique.
I devise and mix my own glazes, a constant stream of testing and apprehension. Because of the complexity of my forms I use the pouring method to glaze which is unpredictable and adds further excitement to the final piece.
My choice of clay is stoneware. Because of its high firing temperature my pieces are frost resistant which allow them to live inside and out all year round.
